In 1996 Larrieux was a vocalist of an instrumental group made up of former members of Sade's backup band. With them she recorded self-titled album Sweetback. This album reached the charts. In November 1999 Larrieux released her debut solo single called "Get Up" and it reached the R&B; charts.
