The White Stripes punk-rock group was formed in Detroit in 1997 by singer and guitarist Jack White (ex-member of the Goober & the Peas band) and drummer Meg White. In the late 90's the duo went on the music tours with such popular rock projects as Sleater-Kinney and Pavement. In 2000 the White Stripes issued the full-length entitled De Stijl, which became rather successful.
